A Christmas Calendar launch in September? For this unique challenge, the year-round ice skating rink at Alexandra Palace was perfect venue. With its expansive size, we needed to be clever in transforming the space to create a full-scale Liberty takeover. 

SOLUTION

The Christmas Calendar was the heart of the event, so we made it the focal point by custom-building a 15ft tall version right in the centre of the ice rink—allowing guests to skate around. To further immerse guests in the calendar’s world, we incorporated artwork from the calendar into giant cut-out versions of iconic elements like London taxis, Christmas trees, and hot air balloons. These were placed throughout the venue and nestled among frosted Christmas trees. 

To add depth and warmth, we washed the space in Liberty’s signature purple, while rich purple velour drapes framed the venue, giving a cozy, elegant ambiance. The Liberty logo was subtly integrated throughout the décor, with refined touches like wrapped “presents” in Liberty’s signature paper, a Christmas tree adorned with branded baubles, and even Liberty-logo ice cubes in the cocktails. It was a complete Liberty takeover!
